Fake website owner steals passwords to look at classmates' grades

A Foreign Studies student in Tokyo University hacked the school computer system to obtain classmates' ID numbers. The suspect admitted to looking at 59 student files.

The student set up a fake website that tricked students into giving out their ID and passwords. 222 students were tricked by the guy's bogus website. After obtaining the passwords, he peaked at 59 other students' grades.

Some students were suspicious of the fake website and reported it to the university. While the university informed students breach in security, the student's name was released.

According to the university's investigation, the suspect just wanted to compare his records with others. ID numbers and passwords weren't given out to others. Police started their investigation in late October.
