Looks like seven-time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady wants to be like Mike and give up the hardwood for the baseball diamond. McGrady has stated his interest in pitching professionally for the Sugar Land Skeeters in the Atlantic League.

McGrady, who is now 34, announced his retirement from the NBA in August, but now it looks like he wants to give baseball a serious shot.

McGrady may not have crazy fastball speed, but he can throw a variety of pitches: curveball, changeup, slider and a splitter. T Mac is currently working on his fielding and his ability to hold baserunners. He's training three days a week in Houston with the help of former-Arizona Diamondbacks scout Scipio Spinks. McGrady was also lucky enough to get a one-day pitching lesson from Roger Clemens himself.

According to Spinks, McGrady doesn't quite have the speed to overpower hitters, but he's improving. "If the season starts tomorrow, Tracy McGrady will be able to pitch on that Skeeters team," Spinks said. [McGrady is throwing] between 85 and 86 miles per hour and that's without adrenalin, that's without hitters at the plate and the longer he throws, the looser he'll get and the harder he'll throw."

This isn't the first time the Skeeters have tried a marketing stunt by bringing in a retired athlete. In 2012, Sugar Land put a 50-year-old Roger Clemens up on the mound.

The Sugar Land Skeeters issued a statement on Tuesday confirming T Mac's intention to play baseball with the Atlantic League organization.
