Five of the seven Japanese divers who went missing on Friday (February 14) were found alive on Monday (February 17) after three days at sea.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, five divers among the seven who went missing were spotted by local fishermen clinging to a large rocky outcrop some 20 kilometers from their last known location of Nusa Penida. The fishermen were unable to rescue the divers because of the rough weather conditions. One of the divers was later rescued by a helicopter while four others were rescued by a rescue boat.

All seven women were experienced scuba divers. According to the BBC, the group had been diving off Nusa Penida off the coast of Bali. They went on two diving trips early on Friday, but did not resurface at an agreed time during the third trip in the afternoon. The boat skipper said he searched for the divers for an hour before reporting the incident.

The Japan Times reported that two divers, Ritsuko Miyata, 59 and Shoko Takahashi, 35 are still missing.
