Student teacher fight at Nimitz High School: Student charged with injury to elderly

A Nimitz High School student went too far when he shoved his substitute teacher, 66-year-old Beverly Round, to the ground last Thursday in Houston.
Round, a retired full-time teacher, confiscated the 16-year-old student's cellphone, sparking the fuse for what would follow. School policy is that phones are not allowed to be used in class, so the seizure was justified.
The 6-foot-3, 325-pound student stood up and demanded she return the phone. Videos recorded on other students' cellphones show the boy towering over the teacher and blocking her path. He pushed her several times, sending the elderly woman to the ground with his final shove.
Some students cheered the 16-year-old boy on while others shook their heads in disapproval. Once Round was on the ground, the student retrieved his phone from her. After the incident, the student turned himself in to the principal's office.
Round left the school in a neck brace and was treated for minor injuries. The 16-year-old was arrested by campus police on a charge of injury to the elderly.
