A landscaper in South Florida was killed when he fell into an industrial wood chipper on Monday in a horrifying accident.

The unidentified victim and two co-workers were clearing brush at around 4 p.m. in the afternoon at a property near Southwest 57th Street and Pine Island Drive in Davie when he fell into the wood chipper. His whole body was pulled through the machine and he died at the scene. Not long after, police arrived at the scene and blocked off the area.

Several nearby residents witnessed the accident and one of them recounted that while getting the mail, she saw one landscape worker running down the street to another that was chopping down branches with a chainsaw in obvious distress.

"He was obviously extremely distraught, yelling and flailing his arms around, screaming," she told the Sun Sentinel.

Counseling has been arranged for those that witnessed the gruesome accident.

While how the incident occurred is still under investigation, authorities believed it to be an accident with no foul play involved.
