Four people were injured when a roller coaster in Los Angeles derailed on Monday (July 7).
According to KTUU.com, the accident took place on the Ninja ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The derailment occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. after a tree branch fell on the track, obstructing the path of the roller coaster. The front car became detached from the track.
At least 20 riders remained on the stalled coaster, stranded about 30 feet in the air more than an hour after the accident. The four people in the front car suffered minor injuries.
The rescue operation was expected to last until about 10:00 p.m., but the final two riders were rescued at about 8:40 p.m., ABC7 news reported. The county's sheriff's and fire departments have launched an investigation into the incident.
