July 4th 2014 will be known for how 82 people were shot in separate incidents all over the city over the 3 day weekend.

The Windy City is actually seeing its lowest murder rate in 50 years, but the seemingly random bursts of gun violence have sent city authorities reeling, vowing to take whatever measures needed to rid the city of this level of chaos.

In separate incidents a seven-year-old, a teenager, a mother in her forties, and a police officer, all died on Independence Day due to gun violence somewhere in Chicagoland.

Outspoken activist and priest Father Michael Pfledger summed it all up by saying, 'We're celebrating independence, but we feel like we're in prison."
"It's unacceptable. We wouldn't accept it in Iraq, we shouldn't accept it in Chicago."
