Subway crash and derailment in Moscow may become deadliest in history

At least 20 people have been killed in a rush-hour train derailment that authorities say may become the deadliest train accident in the history of the Moscow Metro.

According to preliminary reports, a power failure to the subway system occurred and automatically activated the train's emergency brake systems. However, the brakes locked the trains wheels, causing them to derail, and the cars to crash violently against the walls of the tunnel, one of the deepest in the world.

So far 19 people are reported dead. Over 160 have been injured and were taken to hospitals. Due to the nature of the crash, both numbers are expected to rise since more people are thought to be trapped in the wreckage.
