iPhone 6 release date confirmed? User’s manual leak disputed
Steve Hemmerstoffer, editor of leading French Apple blog “No Where Else,” posted pictures he obtained “from his most trusted and loyal Chinese sources” of what he believes to be a genuine iPhone 6 box insert.
Hemmerstoffer has previously leaked a few things later proven to be true, including the fact that the fingerprint sensor will be called Touch ID. No wonder his latest post on the iPhone 6 user guide has some Apple fans going gaga.
Let’s take a look at what we know about the iPhone 6 if the insert is indeed the real deal:
One: It will indeed be called iPhone 6.
Two: It will hit the stores on Tuesday, September 9
Three: It will continue to use a Touch ID sensor in the home button
Four: The volume button will change from two round buttons to two rectangular ones
Five: There will be no headphone jack, but a lightning connector will still be used
Six: The power button will be moved from the top to the side
However, tech site MacRumors have questioned the authenticity of the insert, and here’s why:
First, in the iPhone 5S, the calendar icon displayed the date of the launch of iOS7 on June 10, instead of the date of the launch of the phone. MacRumors says this makes it unlikely the insert would say September 9.
Second, the blog said there are no slashes between the Ring/Silent switch and the Home Button/Touch ID sensor, a sloppy mistake Apple wouldn’t make.
And lastly there’s something funny going on with the font.
Speculation and rumors will no doubt continue to swirl until Apple’s September 9 press event.
