Train suicide: Man jumps from window of moving train in Yokohama, ignoring passengers’ pleas

A Japanese man killed himself in horrific fashion Tuesday when he jumped from the window of a moving express train in the city of Yokohama.

Passengers told police the man appeared normal in the moments before the incident. They then watched as he suddenly stood up, opened the window and stuck his upper body outside the train.

Passengers tried to stop him but he pushed them away and ejected himself. The man was run over and he died instantly.

The incident caused delays to 56 local trains and affected more than 21,000 passengers.

Authorities say the man did not argue or fight with other riders on broad, and it appeared to be a suicide. Police are still trying to determine the man’s identity.
