Newlywed woman run over by lifeguard truck while sunbathing on Venice beach

A 26-year-old newlywed is recovering in a Los Angeles area hospital after being run over by a lifeguard truck.
Lorae Bermudez and her husband were sunbathing at Venice Beach on September 15. Her husband got into the water to swim leaving Bermudez sunbathing in the sand.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. a LA county lifeguard truck who was returning from a call of a distressed swimmer ran over Bermudez who was transported to the hospital for lacerations to her liver and fractures to her pelvic area, her attorney said.
According to police, the lifeguard did not see Bermudez lying in the sand and did not have on his sirens or emergency lights because the driver was not on a call at the time of the incident.
An investigation has been launched to determine if the vehicle, which is equipped with four sensors, was working properly at the time of the incident
This is the second time this year a person has been run over while sunbathing at Venice Beach.
In May, a female sunbather was run over by an LA county maintenance truck.
