Bodycam footage shows shootout between Oklahoma cops and mentally ill man armed with pistol

A deadly police shootout occurred in Sand Springs, Oklahoma last April 11. The shootout involved a SWAT team and a 66-year-old man suffering with paranoid schizophrenia. Officer Brian Barnett had no choice but to shoot Donald Allen, who was armed with a .22-caliber pistol and was becoming increasingly unstable.
Allen had been involved in numerous troubles with the police in the past. Guns and rifles were confiscated from his home but eventually went back to him due to the involvement of family members. The shootout happened in the morning when terrified neighbors reported that Allen was firing gunshots in his backyard.
Barnett's bodycam malfunctioned before the shootout but data was eventually retrieved by a data expert. Deputy Police Chief Mike Carter stated that Donald Allen was a victim of mental illness.
