Why DOTC wants fewer jeepneys in Metro Manila?

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) plans to lessen the number of jeepneys traveling in the major roadways of Metro Manila. These jeepneys will be replaced by buses. Buses can accommodate more passengers than jeepneys.
