This video lecture from Electrochemistry (F.Sc. first year Chemistry) covers the electrolytic cell. An electrolytic cell comprises two electrodes connected to the two ends of a DC source which gives a charge to the electrodes. Negative electrode or the cathode supplies electrons to the electrolyte and a reduction reaction occurs. Positively charged anode takes up the electrons from the anions which undergo oxidation.
