Int'l Court in 3rd Day of Deliberations on Bolivia Sea Access Case

The International Court of Justice in The Hague has entered its third day of deliberations on Bolivia's demand for sovereign maritime access. The controversy centers on land currently held by Chile that would give landlocked Bolivia access to the Pacific Ocean. Chile argues that the ICJ does not have jurisdiction in the case, but Morales said Santiago's presence in the court is an acknowledgement that it indeed does. Bolivia is calling on Chile to honor its previous commitments in this regard, as expressed in the Bogota Pact and subsequent declarations, a demand supported by other Latin American Countries. teleSUR
