Nananatili pa rin sa kustodiya ng Philippine National Police (PNP) si Maria Kristina Sergio, ang umano'y recruiter ni Mary Jane Veloso. Sa kanyang isinumiteng affidavit sa Nueva Ecija PNP ay sinabi ni Sergio na ang pamilya ni Mary Jane ang nagbabanta sa kanyang buhay kaya kinailangan niyang magpasailalim sa protective custody ng PNP.
