Vietnam: Thousands March in Victory Parade

From dawn, thousands flocked to Ho Chi Minh City ahead of the victory parade to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the end of the war against the United States and the reunification of Vietnam. Guests from around the world took their place on a huge stage along with local dignitaries headed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who gave the welcome speech. “Vietnam,” he said, “is a prosperous country 40 years after the US withdrawal.” Men, women and children all took part in the parade, with dancing and elaborate displays in support of the Revolution. Different units of the Vietnamese Army paraded past the authorities in a day of patriotic fervor and national pride. Vincent Montagud reports from Vietnam for teleSUR.
