A Providence man weighing more than 1,000 pounds was moved by crane to a flatbed truck so he could make the trek on Interstate 95 to his new home. A coalition consisting of the Providence and Cranston fire departments, Lifespan, the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, and Bay Crane Northeast moved Robert Butler from his room in a nursing home that is closing to a facility in Cranston on Sunday. Michael Raia of the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health & Human Services said planning for the move began weeks ago. The move to the Eleanor Slater Hospital took nearly seven hours. Raia said the new facility is better equipped to help Butler.
