Reddit trolls own staff: Move to San Francisco before January or leave the company

Popular nerd forum Reddit just announced that all off its remote workers must move to the company's San Francisco HQ by year’s end, or else.
CEO Yishan Wong let the world know on Twitter after taking heat from industry watchers and Reddit users. Wong says the move is about having the whole team under one roof for efficiency and is unrelated to the $50 million in investment capital the compant just raised.
He’s not compromising on the take-it-or-leave-it deal. Redditors’ reactions are mixed, with some pointing out that if any company could accommodate telecommuters, it’d be a website that doesn't make anything.
The policy of herding all workers to the bay city no doubt has something to do with strengthening company culture and collaboration.
But, notwithstanding Wong’s promise of a “generous” relocation package, one wonders how employees feel about being forced to uproot their families and move to the country’s most expensive rental market.
