Ukraine explosion: Powerful blast rocks chemical factory in rebel-controlled Donetsk

A huge explosion on Monday hit the rebel-controlled Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, despite a ceasefire agreed upon by Kiev and pro-Russian rebels.
According to an unverified report, an SS-21 Scarab missile was fired on a chemical factory at 12:15 p.m. on Monday.
Witnesses said the blast could be heard across the city and that glass covering buildings within several kilometres of the chemical factory, including the Donbas Arena stadium, was shattered.
Pro-Russian separatists have accused Kiev of coordinating the attack, but a spokesperson for the Ukrainian military told British Publication the Independent that it had not been involved in the explosion.
Quoting unnamed sources, the Independent reported that Monday’s explosion was the biggest blast in Donetsk for “quite some time”.
Pro-Russian rebels and Kiev negotiated a truce last month. The United Nations estimates that more than 300 people have been killed since the announcement of the ceasefire, while more than 3,660 people have died since the Ukraine crisis unfolded half a year ago.
