A Pennsylvania dad used his son as a human shield against pepper spray

Scranton, Pennsylvania police on Thursday charged Taron Boddie with using his son as a human shield in an, ultimately unsuccessful, attempt to protect himself from an officer's pepper spray, according to a report by the city's Times-Tribune.

Boddie, 35, apparently got into an argument with a teacher at the school of one of his two sons after they wouldn't let him check the child out of school because he didn't have a valid ID with him.

Things escalated from there and an officer was dispatched to calm things down.

Boddie next allegedly put his hands on the officer who, unsurprisingly, placed him under arrest.

In an attempt to avoid being arrested, Boddie allegedly got creative and put his son in between himself and the officer.

When the officer pulled out pepper spray Boddie hoisted the kid up and began using him as a human shield.

Reinforcements were called in and the authorities eventually managed get their man.

Boddie's since been released on bail and faces a number of charges including assault, resisting arrest and endangering the welfare of a child.
