A California high-school teacher is in bother after a video surfaced of him attempting to drag a schoolgirl into a swimming pool.

The incident took place in Stockton back in August when Edison high-school student Sandra Garcia refused to put her head under the water in swim class because her hair had been styled for an evening event.

So instead of working out a compromise, gym teacher Denny Peterson lost it and decided to use brute force to get the girl into the pool.

The ensuing poolside struggle dragged on for about 95 seconds and was caught on camera by one of Garcia’s classmates.

Garcia was left bruised following the spat.

Peterson was placed on leave immediately following the incident before being put back to work at an elementary school, a decision that shocked Garcia and her mother.

It was then they decided to talk to the local media and release the footage, accusing the school board of trying to sweep the whole incident under the carpet.

Peterson has been charged with a misdemeanor count of corporal injury to a child.
