Crazy Chinese tourists fight flight attendant, open emergency door and deploy emergency slide
It has good week for Chinese tourists intent on creating havoc in airplanes, and not so good for the people inconvenienced by their insane antics. One case so shocked the Chinese internet that Beijing has vowed to punish those involved.
That fury concerns a Chinese couple’s brawl with an Air Asia flight attendant. An argument over seating arrangements led a young woman to pour a cup of hot instant noodles in the fight attendant. Most of the interaction was immortalised in a video which has gone viral. In said video, the the woman’s belligerent boyfriend threatened to blow up the plane.
The couple was arrested by Thai police after the flight returned to Bangkok. The pair’s insane behaviour delayed the journey by five hours.
In another incident days later, a man in his mid-50s opened the emergency exit of a Xiamen Air flight bound from Hangzhou to Changsha. The plane was just moments from take off when the man opened the rear door because he “needed some fresh air.” The man said he ignored safety instructions before take-off and didn’t know that opening an emergency exit would cause trouble.
A similar situation occurred last Monday on a China Eastern Airlines flight. A male passenger attempted to open the emergency exit and accidentally deployed the emergency slide shortly after the plane landed at Sanya Phoenix International Airport around 9 p.m. last Monday. The man told China Eastern after the incident that he was “eager to get off the plane.” The incident caused over $16,000 in damage to the slide, which China Eastern plans to bill the man for.
