Twisted fairy tales: Third grader writes fairy tale about a princess who gets an abortion

The story, written by a 3rd grade student in China, starts the same way all good fairy tales begin.
Once upon a time, long long ago, in a kingdom far far away… A handsome prince and a beautiful princess were married.
So far, so good.
However, the beautiful princess spent a lot of time with another man and the prince became suspicious. He confronted his bride and she confessed that the other man was her ex-boyfriend whom she still loved.
Wait a minute!
And that she was pregnant with his child.
What?!
So the prince took his bride, the beautiful princess, to a hospital and beat her until the baby was aborted.
Then they lived happily ever after.
A photo of the student’s homework assignment went viral earlier this month after it appeared on the internet. Shockingly, the teacher also gave the student a high grade for the writing assignment. It’s unknown as to who uploaded the image of the homework assignment.
Chinese netizens immediately started debating as to where a 9-year-old child would have gotten information about abortions. Some speculate it probably came from popular daily soap operas and criticize any parent who would allow such a young child to watch such shows. It also just goes to show how common abortions are in Chinese society that it’s trickled into a so-called fairy tale written by a 9-year-old.
Oh well. At least the story still ended with a happily ever after for everyone. Except for the aborted fetus.
