Worst Wedding Ever: Groom dies on the wedding day after too many drinks

In Nantou, located in southern Taiwan, Mr. Wu, age 42, was a newlywed husband with a young wife and a newborn baby boy. The couple had dated for years and after the birth of their son, they decided to get married. So, a month after their son’s birth the two got ready to tie the knot.

A typical part of a traditional Taiwanese wedding is that the bride and groom raise a toast to each table of guests at their wedding banquet. Depending on the number of guests you invite, this is potentially a dangerous tradition to follow.

Mr. Wu and his bride were drinking whiskey, toasting their friends and family when Mr. Wu suddenly began vomiting and collapsed. He was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead from a heart attack triggered by alcohol poisoning.

Mr. Wu’s family said he wasn’t a heavy drinker, in fact, he didn’t drink all that often. Doctor’s speculate that the sudden overdose of alcohol affected Mr. Wu’s heart which caused his collapse and death.

Mr. Wu leaves behind a young widow and a 35 day old son.

Some traditions just aren’t meant to be followed to the letter.
