Hunger Games-style bow hunter Jen ‘The Archer’ gets death threats for teaching kids to hunt

To vegans, she's Satan; to everyone else, Jen Cordaro is a hunter, angler, outdoor enthusiast and archery instructor from San Diego, California with an interest in educating people about sustainable hunting. She's now paying the price for her controversial hobby.

On Facebook, Cordaro promotes her work as Jen "The Archer", a public profile she uses to spruik her project #BringAKidHunting. It is this which has earned her unwanted attention. One opponent in particular, an activist using the name Dusti Lee last week opened a Change.org petition to bring Cordaro down. The charge reads: "STOP Jen `The Archer' Cordaro from teaching children to become animal murderers!!! MAKE HUNTING ILLEGAL in California (and everywhere)!"

An articulate advocate for hunters, she is has not shrunk from the recent attention From her Facebook page: "Jen is currently working on her second PhD program in Public Policy and Social Change where she will focus on bringing together communities with opposing views on hunting and fishing to attempt to reconcile and create understanding between them in an effort to maintain conservation programs and save hunting opportunities in our world. She holds an M.A. (A.B.D.) in Social and Cultural Anthropology, an M.A. in Human Rights Advocacy and Non-Profit Management from the University of New Hampshire, and a B.A. in Geography from Humboldt State University.

With this has come media attention and greater exposure. But it's also helped fellow hunters rally to her cause and flood her page with messages of support. At the time of writing it's safe to say she has more supporters than the nearly 2,500 people who have signed the petition calling for her to stop.
