Sky Caliber: World's first vertically looping freefall waterslide set to open in 2016

New Jersey's Action Park is set to introduce a new waterslide that features a terrifying 360-degree vertical loop in the summer of 2016.
The water park, located in Vernon, New Jersey, opened in 1978, but shut down for two years in 1996 because of an accident-prone history that gave rise to nicknames for the park such as "Traction Park," "Accident Park," and "Class Action Park."
The world's first vertically looping waterslide, the Cannonball Loop, opened in 1985 at Action Park but only operated for a few years.
Now, a new vertical looping waterslide designed by Canada-based Sky Turtle Technologies is set to open at the park in 2016. The new gravity-defying waterslide, the Sky Caliber, is 90-feet tall with a 45-foot vertical freefall into a 30-foot loop that speeds up to 50 miles per hour.
Riders will ride in a aluminum-enclosed ultra raft vehicle equipped with safety restraints to them to rotate 360 degrees within the slide.
"We've had a 100 percent success rate in our tests so far," said Sky Turtle Technologies' CEO Adrian Duke of his prototype to the New York Daily News.
"It's very quick and frightening," Duke said. "We're hoping to break the waterslide speed record."
