Dog stranded in ice on frozen Charles River rescued by Boston firefighters

Meet Cooper, a golden retriever-poodle cross, who found himself in more than a bit of trouble over the weekend—marooned in the middle an icy river—before his rescue by firefighters.

During a Saturday walk along the bank of Boston's Charles River he bolted, his owners told local police. They posted flyers up around the neighborhood and, luckily, received a call on Sunday informing them Cooper had been spotted on a felled tree in the partially frozen-over river.

Firefighters from the Wellesley Fire Department geared up and went to work, reuniting the unlucky mutt with his relieved family.
