US Marshal Josie Wells fatally shot by fugitive jamie Croom serving arrest warrant in Louisiana

A U.S. marshal died on duty Tuesday morning when he was fatally shot while serving an arrest warrant on a double homicide suspect in Louisiana.
A task force led by federal Marshals arrived at a motel in Baton Rouge Tuesday morning while attempting to arrest Jamie Croom.
When the marshals were making their way into a room, Deputy Josie Wells was shot by Croom, sparking a fierce gunfight. Croom was subdued by other officers, his condition is unknown.
Wells, who joined the U.S. Marshals Service in 2011, later sucummbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Croom is a wanted suspect for a shooting that killed brother and sister Sinica Lee Williams and Lechelle Rita Williams in a parking lot outside a nightclub in mid-February.
Both Croom and Sinica Lee Williams had a criminal background and authorities described the two men of having “high risk lifestyles."
Police believe that the victims in the February shooting were unarmed at the time.
