Self-driving car: Forget Google! This driverless Audi SQ5 is about to drive across America

Delphi Automotive hopes their self-driving car will travel across the country on Sunday. The Audi SQ5 will travel 3,500 miles from San Francisco, California to New York City, New York. It is the first coast-to-coast trip by an autonomous vehicle, and arguably the longest automated drive ever attempted.
The luxury SUV is making the journey in order to test Delphi's advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle-to-infrastructure wireless communications, as well as automated driving software. The Audi SQ5 will be subject to a variety of driving conditions, from changing weather and terrain, to potential road hazards. Delphi will test its advanced driving assistance systems while the vehicle makes its way through busy intersections, highways and maneuver past cyclists.
The navigation system, cameras and sensors are all controlled by intelligent software that enables the vehicle to make complex, human-like decisions. The vehicle features functions like Delphi's Traffic Jam Assist, Automated Highway Pilot with Lane Change (on-ramp to off-ramp highway pilot), Automated Urban Pilot, and Automated Parking and Valet features will all be put through tests during its 10-day journey.
