Andy Montañez - Allá En La Altura
Andy begins as a group bolerista Luis Morales a teenager, made after the time as second voice in the Trio Los Duendes; group he formed with his schoolmates Pachequito and Grand Pucho.
In 1962, on the recommendation of Sammy Ayala, a member of Combo Rafael Cortijo, pianist Rafael Ithier, united voice to that of Pellín Andy Rodriguez, making it one of the key figures of the nascent El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.
During the 15 years he spent with the group, he recorded 37 LPs in which musical hits as "The mad barber", "Julia", "Guaguancó of El Gran Combo", "A Summer in New York" are, "Tramp", "Milonga sentimental", "White sheets", "Solitude" and "My Way".
In 1977, Andy left the Mulatos del Sabor called to face one of the riskiest test of his career to accept the irresistible offer to make him the popular Venezuelan salsa orchestra, Dimension Latina, to replace Oscar D'Leon.
With Dimension Latina recorded eight LPs, putting the group in the first places of popularity and sales. The first work with the group so scored the hits "The echo of the drum," "unclean woman", "Cuban rhythms." Then continued successes such as "pearls of your mouth," "As I sing," "Our land", "back", "Rumberos de ayer", "Son of the hut," "Ave Maria Lola", "Mi son Eastern "and" wandering singer "among others.
Andy then recorded with the group Puerto Rico All Stars three LPs, highlighting topics such as "meeting at the top" and "beautiful island".
By 1981 he was offered the record label LAD, a subsidiary of TH Rodven, with whom he recorded his first solo album entitled "Salsa cache". His fourth production, "You're making me hard," in which his son Harold debut also arise successes "Coward, coward," "Let me show you" and "When I saw you."
In 1988 he recorded his fifth album "The eternal love", with renowned hits "Tonight", "I'll satisfy me," "Living Without You" and "I almost envy you." Rodven still stamped and recorded their album in 1990 "All New" with the hits "Ghost" and "unfinished Supper". By 1991 he recorded "The professor of salsa" in reference to their participation in the University of Salsa and tell El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.
By the summer of 1992 integrates the young orchestra Ednaliz Montañez order to establish, together with his older brothers, "Montañez Dynasty" where musical talent manifests as family property.
With the album "The swing forever" (1992), highlighting "Chemen, Chemen" and "The Saint", the renowned singer finishes his contract with the label TH Rodven. It break the record productions for three years. This allowed him to accept invitations from his former colleagues to perform with El Gran Combo in its debut in Japan in 1993 and in the city of Los Angeles and in Colombia in 1994. He was also guest of honor next to "Montañez Dynasty" and "La Dimension Latina" to the carnivals of Venezuela in 1995.
In 1996, the Child Trastalleres accepts the invitation extended to him Ismael Miranda to record a duet boleros. In this way they recorded the CD "Al son del bolero", "New Romantics" (1997) and "With soul of the child" (1998).
