Andy begins as a group bolerista Luis Morales a teenager, made after the time as second voice in the Trio Los Duendes; group he formed with his schoolmates Pachequito and Grand Pucho.

In 1962, on the recommendation of Sammy Ayala, a member of Combo Rafael Cortijo, pianist Rafael Ithier, united voice to that of Pellín Andy Rodriguez, making it one of the key figures of the nascent El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.
