Prison visit allowed for family of Mumia Abu-Jamal

US prison officials reversed course yesterday, allowing family members of Mumia Abu-Jamal to visit the imprisoned African American activist in a Pennsylvania hospital. Mumia Abu-Jamal, the most well-known political prisoner in the U.S. had been moved to an intensive care unit after he was removed from prison for a medical emergency, details of which are still sketchy. Mumia is serving a life sentence, commuted from the death penalty, for allegedly killing a police officer, a charge the African-American activist and many Black, human rights, and progressive organizations in the United States vigorously deny. teleSUR
