Heat Wave 1

The 1935 film "Heat Wave" was designed to promote a career in films for Les Allen, ex-vocalist with Henry Hall's BBC Dance Orchestra. This however did not happen, so this is the only film to feature him, it has a rather strange plot about a simple minded tourist (Albert Burdon) who gets involved with an opera singer and gun runners in South America. The film also stars Anna Lee, who shortly after this went on to greater things in Hollywood. "Heat wave" has never been shown on television in the UK, or been released on either VHS or dvd, but did curiously get several showings on Australian tv some years ago. Songs include "If your father only knew" and "San Felipe", both of which were recorded at the time by several dance bands.
