A team of researchers hailing from universities in both New York and China has created a map of what a brain in love looks like.

Over the centuries, many a poet and songwriter have sought to solve the mystery of what love truly is, but, thanks to science, people may not have to wonder for much longer.

A team of researchers hailing from universities in both New York and China has created a map of what a brain in love looks like. 

The daunting task involved scanning the brains of 100 individuals who fell into one of three emotional categories: in love, out of love, and those who had never loved at all. 

Each participant was instructed to refrain from thinking while his or her brain was digitally analyzed. 

Results showed that those who were currently in an amorous state had increased activity in the cerebral areas that handle rewards, motivations, and emotional management.
