He has held positions at Oxford University, the University of Chicago, and Columbia University, where his captivating and insightful lectures earned him the President’s Award, bestowed to recognize outstanding teaching. Dr. Connors also has the distinction of being the only person to have directed both major American research institutes in Italy—the American Academy in Rome and Villa I Tatti, the Harvard Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence.A native of New York, Dr. Connors earned his Ph.D. in art history at Harvard University, and is currently completing a monograph on Roman Baroque architect Francesco Borromini.
