Altaf Hussain Calls For Small Dams

The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain suggested resolving the scarcity of water through building small dams all over the country.
In a statement issued from London Secretariat, MQM Chief said it was unfortunate that the Kala Bagh Dam was politicized rather some serious debate would have been conducted to remove objections and concerns of small provinces. He said that the shortage of drinking water prevailed all hooks and corner of the country and people, especially women and children had to travel miles to fetch water for their use.
Mr. Hussain said that the dams were built to reserve water but people here in Pakistan did not want to adapt modern technology to coup basic problems, especially scarcity of drinking water. He said that he usually demanded the government to spread the networks of small dams.
He also expressed woes over the absence of local bodies system and said that it was incomplete democracy in the country because the federal and provincial governments tried to avoid the demand of local bodies system. He said that without the local system, it was impossible to provide fundamental facilities of health, education and other needs to the people.
