Ripropose anche fiabe e personaggi della cultura popolare come Cenerentola, Barba Blu o Giovanna D’Arco, in questi film fa anche uso del colore, tingendo a mano la pellicola. Più raramente, come nel caso di L’Affaire Dreyfus (1899) o L’incoronazione di Edoardo VII (1902), Méliès rinuncia al suo cinema fantastico per trattare argomenti storici o di attualità.

Released by Méliès's Star Film Company and numbered 206–217 in its catalogs, each of the eleven one-minute installments reconstructs an event from the historical Dreyfus affair, which was still in progress while the series was being made.
