Falling Block Of Ice Destroys Man's Parked Car In Maine

On Sunday, a man in Portland, Maine returned to his parked car and saw that it was badly damaged. The 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier wasn't struck by another vehicle but was instead hit by massive chunks of falling ice.

On Sunday, a man in Portland, Maine returned to his parked car and saw that it was badly damaged. The 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier wasn't struck by another vehicle but was instead hit by massive chunks of falling ice. 

The ice had fallen from a rooftop of a nearby brick structure that houses apartments and several businesses. The owner of the car, 28-year-old Adam Sousa told WMTW, "The chunk that was through the windshield came out of the windshield maybe three feet and was sitting on the passenger's seat."

His insurance won't pay for repairs or a replacement and the police can't do much because ice accumulation is considered an "act of nature".

The owner of the building in which the ice fell from has not received a citation, however city law state
