Philip Van Horn (Trevor St. John) was long gone. He left his home town Cuba, Missouri to make it big in Hollywood. But things did not really go as planned.

He thinks it is good and plays his master stroke to win the heart of his high school crush Dorothy (Mary Stuart Masterson).
