She and the president cut their trip to India short to visit Riyadh and pay their respects to the country’s late King Abdullah.

As is customary in the country, the First Lady wore garments that were both loose and concealing.

Though it’s also expected of Saudi women that a scarf of veil be worn over the head, females from other nations aren’t required to do so when visiting.

Nonetheless, the First Lady opting out of the country’s full dress code became the topic of a deluge of negative social media commentary.

Using the hashtag that translates roughly as ‘Michelle Obama unveiled’ many Tweeted, questioning her decision.
