Discrimination is defined as unequal treatment. Today's edition of Web Serial looks at several forms of discrimination. We start in Colombia, where the increased unemployment rate has driven the growth of informal labor to the point where it represents 35% of all jobs. While all those employed in the informal sector face discrimination, older and younger inexperienced workers are most vulnerable. Then to Honduras, where most of the prisoners, particularly those who are poor, Afro-Honduran or women, are behind bars due to deficiencies in the country's system of justice. In Peru, the disabled face discrimination in terms of access to public infrastructure. Finally, to Uruguay, where the government is implementing the campaign "Being Young is not a Crime", which challenges the prejudice of viewing young people as potential delinquents. A campaign is also being waged against a proposed referendum to lower the legal age from 18 to 16. teleSUR
