Interviews from Havana - Restoration of Old Havana

Old Havana, the historical colonial center of the Cuban capital, is the best preserved of its kind in all of Latin America. But Old Havana is not a museum piece or artificially built area. It is a living, breathing part of the city, inhabited by people who work in Old Havana and make it their home. In today's program, host Cristina Escobar interviews Orestes del Castillo, world renowned architect and adviser to the Office of the City Historian of Havana, headed by Eusebio Leal. Del Castillo discusses Old Havana's housing crisis and how relocation is handled, the restoration effort in the Old City and its social importance, and the need to preserve the Cuban capital's historical heritage. teleSUR
