Bahrain sentences prominent rights activist to six months in jail

Demonstrations have continued in Bahrain ending in further clashes with police.
Tuesday’s violence was triggered by the sentencing of one of the country’s most prominent human rights activists to six months in prison over Twitter message.
Nabeel Rajabwas charged with insulting a public institution and the army.
According to his lawyer Rajab has been granted bail while he launches an appeal.
In the past he has been on record for saying that Bahrain’s laws and judiciary are being used as tools of repression.
On Monday the head of Bahrain’s main opposition group, Sheikh Ali Salman was formally charged with promoting violent regime changes.
Bahrain’s Sunni Muslim rulers forcibly quelled a 2011 uprising which had been largely triggered by unrest among the Shia Muslim majority.
