Crystal is a state of matter: it is a solid whose regular faces reveal a well ordered internal structure. It results from an assembly of atoms, molecules or biological macromolecules made of thousands of atoms. This assembly forms a structure that repeats identically in the three directions. Its stability stems from this very regular construction.
