TV9 News: Delhi Elections: 1 Lakh People Expected To Attend PM Narendra Modi's Rally 'Today'...,

Around 1 lakh people are expected to attend Modi's rally.

PM Modi will be the face of BJP's campaign in the city and the party feels the rally will help it build a momentum for the election.

As all high-profile leaders are expected at the venue on that day, safety is a prime concern for the BJP. Therefore, over 100 CCTV cameras have been put in place.

At least a dozen metal detectors, X-ray machines and numerous barricades have also been placed at all strategic points.

BJP has been out of power in Delhi for the past 16 years and its Delhi chief Satish Upadhyay said the party was confident of winning the polls with a clear majority this time with the help of Modi's charisma.

Delhi has been under President's Rule since Arvind Kejriwal quit as the chief minister on February 14, 2014 after being in office for 49 days.

The elections will be an opportunity for the resurgent BJP, which has been on a winning streak under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in various Assembly polls since its spectacular success in the Lok Sabha polls last May, to seek a clear verdict unlike the fractured decision of 2013 polls in Delhi.

The BJP, which had then faced the polls under Modi as the chief campaigner for the party, could not get a majority in Delhi unlike the stunning success it had scored in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh which also went to polls then.
