STORY: North Koreans danced in Pyongyang on Tuesday (December 30) to mark the third anniversary of its leader Kim Jong Un's appointment as the Supreme Commander.

In video provided to Reuters by the North's official news agency KCNA, which cannot be independently verified, hundreds of young men in suits and young women dressed in brightly colored traditional clothes, were seen dancing with each other.

Kim was appointed as a Supreme Commander of its 1.2 million-strong military in 2011, just after the state's former leader and his father Kim Jong Il died.

North Korea, whose military is pursuing a nuclear arms program, is technically still at war with the South Korea and is suffering from chronic food shortages.
