Indonesia says "95 percent" sure debris from missing AirAsia jet

Indonesia's broadcaster TV One captured images on Tuesday (December 30) of what appears to be a body and other debris during a search for the missing AirAsia jet off the Kalimantan coast.

The search and rescue agency chief said he was 95 percent certain debris sighted in the Java sea was part of Flight QZ8501 presumed to have crashed two days ago.

An Airbus carrying 162 people and operated by Indonesia AirAsia disappeared in poor weather early on Sunday (December 28) during a flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore.

"I am 95 percent sure that the location pictured is debris suspected to be from the aircraft," Indonesia Search and Rescue Agency chief Soelistyo told reporters.
