Residents flee Karachi blaze

Pakistani fire-fighters were battling to bring this fire under control in Karachi after it started in a timber market.
The fire broke out in a densely-populated part of the city.
Local residents fled as the flames spready quickly through the area.
SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) OWNER OF A WAREHOUSE, SHABBIR SOOMRO, SAYING:
"I don't know how this fire broke out and where it started from. But it spread from shop to shop and warehouses and then engulfed the residential buildings."
Some witnesses said fire crews had trouble reaching the scene because they couldn't find a way through the heavily-congested area.
The flames could be seen for miles across the city early on Sunday.
The cause of the blaze wasn't immediately known.
