A major fire erupted in a densely populated area of Karachi early on Sunday (December 28), according to Pakistani media.
TV footage showed people fleeing from buildings engulfed in flames after fire broke out in a local timber market in Karachi's Old Haji Camp area and quickly spread to nearby residential area, local media reported.
Fire-fighters were on site trying to contain the fire.
The Old Haji Camp area is home to several timber warehouses, according to local media, adding that the cause of the fire was still unclear.
