Investigators arrive at the military-run school in Peshawar, Pakistan, where 148 people -- mostly students -- were killed by Taliban militants two days ago.

The hardline Islamists said the children deserved to die because they were part of the military establishment.

Brothers 11-year-old Daniyal and 8-year-old Jibran Khan escaped.

"During fourth period we heard the sound of gunfire. The teacher told us, 'Sit down. This is just a drill'. We picked up our bags to go out, but then decided to leave the bags and save ourselves. First all of us friends sat under the chairs. Then we ran out of the class."

Jibran says he saw some of the Taliban militants carrying out the attack.

(SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) GRADE TWO STUDENT JIBRAN KHAN, SAYING:

"There were six people. They did not kill anyone in front of me. They killed boys from Grade nine and Grade 10."
